Here is the short synopsis: Quote:This book is a biography of Etta's life from her birth in 1897 until her death in 1994, which includes her ancestral history dating back to 1812. Details of the hardships the Appalachian Mountain people suffered to survive are shared throughout her story. (Highlighted letters added by me) If you like reading true stories of how the Appalachian Mountain people lived in the early days of the 1900's, you'll love this book! It's a great history reference. RE: Last of the Old-Time Midwives - senona - 08-28-2016 I got the ebook a while back and really enjoyed it. It does give you an insight to how people lived back then (mountain folks that is) before electric came about. As well as goes into how Etta became a midwife and continued to do so even as she got older. All the while, only charged $15 to deliver a baby. Fascinating really. Thanks mystic!! |
